I remember when I decided to draw this that I wanted to move outside of my comfort zone with what I had been drawing up until that point. I felt that the complexities of the toy would lend itself to being an interesting challenge for me.

I'd say that this particular piece might have been a step too far outside of my comfort zone but nevertheless enjoyed working on it anyway.

If I knew a first thing about colouring, I bet I'd be all over this pic right now!!
Most excellent!

If I knew the first thing about colouring I'd be over it myself! But I usually ask others when I want to see something of mine coloured apart from the odd thing that I have taken a stab at!

Hmm, dunno....you should take stabs at colouring more often, these coloured pics here look mighty fine to me :)

Thanks for that but it's all about the time that I have free to work on art these days. I'd much rather prefer to focus on perfecting my line art than try to be a jack of all trades, if you know what I mean.

Absolutely.

Keep up the good work, sir! :)

The recent TFCC fiction has given me a new appreciation for this guy. Enough so that I'm tempted to track down his toy after all at some point.

I think you did a good job here, aside from some minor alignment bits. Considering how insanely detailed he is, that's quite a feat.

It's funny how the right use of a character in fiction can make a toy more desirable!

Yeah I'm still trying to work out some kinks in how I draw and the alignment issues are still there. Give it time though!! :)

Oh yes, agreed on that count. I have so many toys now I wish I had a chance in heck of buying, based on the fiction. At least this one is probably doable.

You're still doing way better than me on the straight lines thing, so don't feel discouraged. :XD:

Get this, I have started using a ruler for some of my lines... I never bothered with that before but now realise that there is a time and a place for them! I still like to draw the lines free hand when I can but where the situation calls for it I break out the ruler. And to up my game a little more I've order a set of french curves from Amazon.

As for buying toys thankfully I've knocked that on the head. I'd feel bad buying toys for me when I should be buying twos for my daughter... still wait until she's old enough for Transformers. I believe 6 months is appropriate!

Hah! Yeah, TFs got me using rulers for the first time, too. I'm used to drawing squishies.

:XD: That's the spirit! "It's not me, it's for the baby! I swear!"
